How to achieve your yearly goals

Hello Everyone! This is my first blog post of 2021! Wow what a year 2020 was ey, but we aren’t here to talk about that, I’m here to help you set some goals for the new year ahead no matter the circumstances and how to effectively achieve them!

Now before I jump right in, reading this blog post isn’t going to magically achieve your goals right away its about hard work and a positive mind set which is what I am going to talk about in this blog and the secrets to helping you achieve your goals that you may or may not have done in the past or even known about!

Get yourself a planner / diary

Now the best way for me to establish my goals is to actually write them down. I love to get goal setting planners (there are loads on Amazon) which help me to track my goals, see where I am meant to be and what steps to take next. They do say you are more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down and look at them everyday!

Set specific and measurable goals

Now that you have your shiny new goal planner you can start to think about what it is you want to achieve in the next year. My top tip is to make sure it is as specific as possible so that you can write down specific steps you need to take in order to achieve them.  This could be something as simple as ‘Be more active’ in which case you could set time aside each week in which you are going to do exercise, how many days you want to do, how long for and what type of exercise. This is the same process for attaining bigger goals.

For example, one of my goals is to increase visitor numbers to my blog. In which case I will need to create more content (1 blog every 2 weeks) and market my blog more effectively on Instagram and Pinterest.

Another aspect you need to consider is if your goal is measurable, if it is then this means you can track your progression towards your goal and to see if you are on the right path or are falling behind.

You can even set deadlines for when you want to achieve your goals, this does help to motivate and push some people if they have a specific date in mind that they want to achieve their goal. Meaning you will set more time aside to focus on this goal, however, it can seem like a lot of pressure for some people so this does depend on the type of person you are.

Increase positivity in your life

If you feel you won’t be able to achieve your goals because of negative people or negative thoughts then this will hold you back when achieving your goals. The only thing that will hold you back is your doubts and fears but just remember that it’s all in your head!

Read self-help books:

Things that really helped me diminish my own self-doubt and fear of failure is reading self-help books! Good Vibes Good Life by Vex King really did change my mindset and helped give me the confidence to start my own business.

Affirmations:

If you aren’t familiar with affirmations it’s basically saying aloud or in your head or even journaling how you want to be and what you want to achieve but as if you have already achieved them. Some of mine are: ‘I am successful’ ‘ I am happy’ ‘ I am loved’. You can say whatever you want really those are just some examples you can use.

It may sound silly to those that have never done this before but it really helps boost your confidence, feel more positive and help manifest your goals.

Create a Mood board

I find creating a mood board for your life goals or yearly goals really helps me to visualise them and helps to motivate me to keep working towards my goals. 

This can be digitally created (which I have done) or can be made in a scrapbook if you prefer to do it that way!

Track your progress

It’s so important to track your progress when setting goals to see how far you have come and what else you still need to do. There are many apps that can help you to track your progress or even write down in your planner what milestone you have hit when achieving your goal! Everyone has good weeks and bad weeks, but even tracking what didn’t go well can help you to think about a different way of going about it!

Seek help off others

Depending on the goal you have in mind there will be people in your life that can help you to achieve your goals whether it’s just a workout buddy to help you become more active or reach out to your tech savvy friend to help you create a website for your new online business! 

I hope this helped you think about your goals and how to go about achieving them. I know that 2020 was difficult and who knows what 2021 will bring, but try to make the best of a bad situation and take some time to think about what you want to achieve in your life no matter how small they may seem!
